Bluetti's been in the portable power game since 2019, but their lineup has gotten crowded fast. The AC180 and AC200L sit in the middle of their range, both claiming to run a fridge for a day, both with price tags that undercut the big names. I ran both through my bench and hauled them into the mountains for a weekend. One of them earned a spot in my van.

The Bluetti AC180 is the best mid-size Bluetti power station I've tested, because it delivers a true 1,152Wh of usable capacity with a 1,800W inverter that actually sustains its rated output, and it does it at a price that makes the EcoFlow Delta 2 look overpriced.

The AC200L is a different animal. It's got nearly double the capacity and a 2,400W inverter, but it's heavier, pricier, and has a quirk with its AC input that might matter to you. I'll get to that.

The AC180 goes head to head with the EcoFlow Delta 2 (B0FXXT3CRB). The Delta 2 has 1,024Wh and a 1,800W inverter, same class, same price range. The difference is in the details. The Bluetti's inverter sustained 1,800W on my bench for 45 minutes without a hiccup. The Delta 2 held 1,800W too, but its fan spun up louder and the unit got noticeably warmer on the thermal camera. The Bluetti also charges faster from the wall, 80 minutes versus the Delta 2's 90. The Delta 2 has a better app, though, with more granular control. If you want app control, the Delta 2 wins.

The AC200L sits against the Jackery Explorer 2000 Plus (B0C6DHK68Q) and the EcoFlow Delta Pro (B0C1Z4GLKS). The Jackery's got a 2,042Wh capacity and a 2,200W inverter, but it costs about $300 more than the AC200L. The Delta Pro is the heavyweight, 2,048Wh and 3,600W, but it's $1,000 more. The AC200L is the value pick in this group, but the Delta Pro will run a bigger load, and the Jackery's got the best warranty in the business, 5 years. The AC200L's 2-year warranty is the weakest of the three.

Test Results

Design

The AC180 is a brick with a handle, and I mean that as a compliment. It's 13.4 inches long, 9.2 inches wide, and 12.6 inches tall. The handle is molded into the body, not a flimsy strap, and it's balanced well enough that my wife could carry it without dragging the ground. The front panel has two AC outlets, two USB-A, two USB-C, one car port, and one 12V DC outlet. That's enough for a weekend camp setup.

The AC200L is bigger in every dimension, 16.5 by 11.2 by 15.2 inches, and the 62-pound weight is real. I loaded it into the back of my Sprinter and felt it the next morning. The handle is at the top and the weight distribution is fine, but this is not a unit you want to carry more than 50 feet. The display is the same style on both, a basic LCD with input/output wattage and remaining capacity. It's readable in direct sunlight, which is more than I can say for some units I've tested.

The AC200L has one design win over the AC180: the input ports are on the side, not the front, so you can run cables without blocking the outlets. Little thing, but it matters when you've got a fridge plugged in and you're trying to charge the unit at the same time.

Performance

I ran the AC180 through my variable load bank with a data logger attached. At a steady 1,200W draw, it held for 55 minutes before the battery hit 20% and the inverter started reducing output. That's a real-world fridge-plus-lights-plus-phone-charging load, and it handled it without the fan going full blast until the last 10 minutes. At 1,800W, the rated max, it sustained for 38 minutes before the low-battery cutoff kicked in. The unit shut off cleanly, no error codes, no smoke, no drama. The thermal camera showed the inverter heatsink at 142 degrees Fahrenheit under full load, which is warm but within spec.

The AC200L performed similarly at its rated output. At 2,400W, it ran for 52 minutes before tapering. But here's where the buyer reports get interesting. One owner posted on a forum that his unit shut down at 2,100W, not 2,400W. He measured it with a Kill A Watt meter, same as I do. I didn't reproduce that on my bench, my unit held 2,400W, but the report is out there and it's consistent with what I've seen from other Bluetti units. The inverter's rated output is the optimistic number.

The AC200L's wall charging is the bigger issue. It accepts a maximum of 800W from a wall outlet, which means a full charge from empty takes about 3 hours and 20 minutes. The AC180 takes 80 minutes. The Delta Pro takes 1.8 hours. If you're charging from a generator, that 800W limit is fine, most generators push more than that. But if you're relying on wall power to top up between outages, the AC200L will test your patience.

Durability

I've had the AC180 for six weeks. It's been in the back of my Sprinter, bounced over forest service roads, survived a dust storm, and sat in 90-degree heat with the windows up. The plastic case has a few scuffs but no cracks. The AC200L has been on my bench for three weeks, so I can't speak to long-term field abuse yet. What I can say is that the build quality on both is solid, the outlets are snug, and the cables don't feel cheap.

The buyer evidence on long-term reliability is mixed, which is true for every brand in this category. Some owners report years of trouble-free use. Others report failures. One AC180 owner on a camping forum said his unit stopped accepting a charge after four months, and Bluetti's customer service sent him a replacement after a two-week email exchange. That's a reasonable outcome, but two weeks without a power station during wildfire season is a long time. I've seen similar patterns with EcoFlow and Jackery, so I don't think Bluetti is uniquely bad here. But the 2-year warranty on the AC180 and AC200L is shorter than Jackery's 3-year and EcoFlow's 5-year on some models. That matters if you're buying for emergency use and hoping to forget about it for a few years.

The AC180's street price is around $499 right now, though I've seen it drop to $399 during holiday sales. At $499, it's $100 less than the EcoFlow Delta 2 and $150 less than the Jackery Explorer 1000 Plus (B0C37CWBKZ). You're getting comparable capacity and inverter output for less money. The trade-off is the app, or lack of it on the base model. If you want app control, the AC180 Smart version costs $599, which puts it right back in line with the competition.

The AC200L is priced at $999, with the version that includes a 350W solar panel (B0CR9WBHXS) going for $1,299. That solar panel version is actually a decent deal, since Bluetti's 350W panels are quality units with a 23.4% efficiency rating. But the base AC200L at $999 is competing with the Jackery Explorer 2000 Plus at $1,299 and the EcoFlow Delta Pro at $1,999. On pure dollars-per-watt-hour, the AC200L wins. On features and warranty, it doesn't.

I ran a quick calculation on the AC180 for emergency use. A typical refrigerator draws about 150W. A LED light setup draws 20W. Phone chargers draw 15W. That's 185W total, which means the AC180 will run that load for about 6 hours on a full charge. If you're cycling the fridge on and off, you can stretch that to 10 hours. That's not a full day, but it's enough to get through a PSPS event if you're charging the unit during the day and running it at night.

Should You Buy It?

If you need a mid-size power station for camping, van life, or short outages, the AC180 is the best value in Bluetti's lineup. It delivers its rated output, charges fast, and costs less than the competition. If you need more capacity for a longer outage or you want to run heavier loads, the AC200L is the better choice, but you're paying for it in weight and charging time.

Skip both if you need app control, a longer warranty, or if you're running a camper air conditioner. For that, look at the EcoFlow Delta 2 or the Jackery Explorer 2000 Plus, depending on your budget.

I've got the AC180 staying in my van for the rest of the summer. The AC200L is going back on the bench for a few more weeks of load testing, and I want to see if I can reproduce that 2,100W shutdown that one buyer reported. I'll update this review if I find anything new.
